For small jobs, the break-even and target-price outputs are more useful than forcing every job into the same per-square-foot price. You can still use square footage as a scope input in your own estimate.

The core price still comes from direct cost, overhead, payment fees and the gross margin you choose. The calculator intentionally avoids claiming an “average price” for your market.
